The Other League: Transfers 07.07

Athletic Bilbao: nothing is certain but the tenure of coach Marcelo Bielsa is coming to an end. I don't think it's is even the fault of the training ground altercation with the construction staff which I think is more of a consequence of a fracture with management instead of the cause. I think his contract extension had parameters that were haggled on unnecessarily. I believe he had certain players in mind and the club signed others instead. There is some thought that this chaos can spring some players (Munian, Javi Martinez and especially Llorente) out of Bilbao. I think the opposite happens. The leading candidate if Bielsa leaves apparently (from sources in Argentina) is ex-Espanyol and Villareal coach Ernesto Valverde.

Atletico de Madrid
:  is there a problem at Atletico Madrid? What is the reason why young central-defender Alvaro Dominguez was sold to Borussia Monchendgladbach? The player came out and criticized Atleti for never giving him or many of the other canteranos a shot, but former Atleti keeper David De Gea agrees with him. Is it really better to take on super-agent Jorge Mendes's loanees and sell players who Domingue says would truly bleed for the shirt?

Betis: Costa-Rican forward Joel Campbell comes to Real Betis on-loan from Arsenal FC. Pepe Mel is also looking towards bringing in Barça's Mexican midfielder Johnathan Dos Santos on-loan as well.

Celta Vigo: have signed Hercules central-defender Samuel Llorca. He joins ex-Sevilla goalkeeper as coach Paco Herrera's bid to stay in the top-flight. Herrera mind-you is the former Espanyol sporting-director and was on Rafa Benitez's first staff at Liverpool FC.

Deportivo La Coruña:  Chairman Lendoiro is looking to signing another central-defender and quickly. He is meeting with agents as we speak. Agus of Alcorcón is an option, but the one guy they like is Albert Botía and he would prefer signing with Atletico Madrid.

Espanyol: with midfielder Sergio Tejera and central-defender Diego Colotto in the fold, all but one of Pochettino's needs have been filled. Could it be then that former Villarreal player and World-Cup winning left-back Joan Capdevila is on the way to returning to Spain from current club Benfica in Portugal? He is surplus to their needs but Benfica are trying to bargain a cash payout in return which Espanyol clearly don't have.

Getafe: ex-Real Madrid canterano Miguel Torres, who came to Getafe with ex-coach Michel, is now no longer needed under new coach Luis Garcia and is expendable.

Granada: have confirmed that ex-Real Betis midfielder Iriney Santos da Silva. He joins Toño, Torje and Floro Flores as Summer signings. Must be nice to be owned and have a player development deals with the Pozzo family who own Udinese Calcio in Italy and Watford in England.

Levante:  goalkeeper Keylor Navas signed a permanent deal with the cash-strapped Valencian club.

Malaga: with Julio Baptista out for four months the club are eyeing... Niklas Bendtner? A legend purely in his own mind, the Arsenal reject is on the downside of a very young career. There is some talk that the club are aiming to sign Robin Van Persie, but Emmanuel Adebayor is a more likely signing. No matter what wages are available, you are not going to get high-impact players to come to a club like Malaga that have no chance at a league.

Mallorca: forward Javier Arizmendi, defender Antonio Lopez, midfielder Javi Marquez and goalkeeper Ruben Mino, plus the likelihood of another defender and a striker? Where is Mallorca getting the money for all these signings? No wonder wonder-coach Caparros is so proud of his squad, calling it the "best side in Spain." Drug-check.

Osasuna:  are one of the clubs interested in the signing of Real Madrid Castilla striker Juanfran Moreno.

Rayo Vallecano: are interested in two players from Malaga: defensive midfielder Jose Luis Garcia del Pozo (Recio) and attcking midfielder Diego Buonanotte. However, they are not capable of paying anything for them to loan them out since the club is in deep financial trouble.

Real Sociedad:  Carlos Vela is still on-hold. Arsenal still want him at maximum value, but the player says he will not return to England. New Liverpool manager is looking at making French winger Antoine Griezmann their first summer signing.

Sevilla
: Andres Palop is disliked by much of the squad, by his coach Michel and by his fellow goalkeepers. They have Diego Lopez who could is one of the 5 best keepers in Spain and he sits behind Palop. Palop just got an extension. It's why Javi Varas is at Celta Vigo. My question what is up with Sevilla?

Valencia
:  5 years ago, the debt at Valencia CF was over 500 million euros. 5 years later and with much pain and suffering, the debt has dropped by 160 million. At this rate the club will be able to compete for players, finish moving into the Nou Mestalla, and compete with the big teams for European trophies. The fact that they signed Roberto Soldado to a contract extension is teling. % years ago, even two years ago, President Manuel Llorente would have included him in any deals for cash.

Valladolid: Nafti, Jofre, Juanito, Varela, Matabuena and Aquino, along with three other players whose contracts were up with La Pucella on the 30th of June have left the club

Zaragoza:  Celtic defender Glenn Loovens looks to sign with Zara.
