Kits!: Espanyol

Espanyol have unveiled their new kits for the upcoming 2012-2013 season at their stadium Cornella-El Prat. Puma is the new sponsor but design stays in the same ballpark as the old Li-Ning kits from last year: the retro look continues.

Home Kit: The first team shirt will have three blue vertical stripes, narrower than usual, on a white background, while the pants will be completely blue with white piping on the side and the socks will have alternating blue and white horizontal stripes. The blue is slightly darker than last year and the collar is higher and white.

Secondary Kits: The second kit is lime-green in color with a broad black stripe running through front with black shorts. The third kit has a similar design but the main color is bronze. The goalkeepers kits are lilac with a fringe of gray.

There was some controversy as to whether or not the club would place the Catalan flag somewhere on the kit. The club have opted to include the flag but have placed it inside on the collar.

It's a decent enough design. You can't really ruin blue and white stripes, but this look too close to Depor's and Real Sociedad's design. The secondary kits are, as per the norm, horrendous. I wish the club would stick with a color scheme that reflected their first kits which were yellow. These lime-green monstrosities are putrid. At least they're better than the Tron kits from last year.
