As.com
Real Madrid Orders: Mourinho and Tito start the season together. 7 blancos ( Cristiano, Iker, Xabi, Ramos, Ozil and Coentrao) and only 4 culés (Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Cesc) qualify for UEFA´s best player award. Raúl and David Silva are also nominated.

I Love Jesé: the Madridistas´s are fascinated by their new Crack player. Florentino Perez was the first to compliment him, ¨Congratulations champ!¨" Wins entry into the first team for their tour of the United States.

Sport.es
Stronger than ever: This year Leo will reach his heights: Fernando Signorini, his trainer for Argentina, reveals his secrets. Fourteen players have passed their medical exams and will begin their training today in double sessions per Tito´s orders.

Mundo Deportivo
Messi, like the year of the triple: He will start the year from the beginning like that unbelieveable 2008-2009 campaign. Leo, at his best weight wants to add trophies and win his fourth Balon D´or.

Opinion:
Alright, so I am back after a much needed vacation and recharging of the batteries. If Real Madrid and Barcelona can begin their pre-season training today, then so can I. Don´t expect the usual opinions though. This is not your typical European Football blog; we don´t cow-tow to sacred cows, cooked culé style or with a merengue topping. Let´s begin then:
  • As: This is such a non-issue. ¨Well, Real Madrid have more players than Barça nominated overall¨, says one side. ¨Well, on the UEFA website, there are two Barça players for every one Real Madrid player¨, says the other. The fact is that one of two players will win it. The guy who deserves it, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
  • Marca: the madridistas might be fascinated by their new-found crack, the important person to fascinate is José Mourinho and more importantly the guy who tugs his strings: Super-Agent! Jorge Mendes. If they need another player just look at players with contracts at Gestifute: Nelson Oliveira, Nani, or more likely Radamel Falcao.
  • Sport & MD: It´s the same subject so I decided to group them. There´s a good possibility he will be better out the gate, he´s been on beaches all Summer while Cristiano on the other hand has been playing a central role in Portugal´s deep run at Euro 2012, but it´s a real stretch tosay he´ll repeat again. Injury is always a problem with players like Messi: short, over-worked, etc.
