The Other League: Transfer Update 16.07

Athletic Bilbao: both Celta and Depor are interested in midfielder David Lopez. The club have stated that Bielsa is counting on him, but up to what price? The future of Markel Susaeta may have an effect on whether Lopez stays or goes.

Atletico de Madrid
: one of the reasons why Atlético Madrid may not be so worried about losing Diego Ribas is that they have Óliver Torres, the young playmaker who had such a great U-19 tournament in that role.

Betis: the northward movement of players from Spain´s second or third tier continues. Promising youngsters like Atléti´s Álvaro Dominguez and now Betis´s winger Ezequiel Calvente has negotiated his own transfer to Borussia Monchendgladbach. Is this a trend starting up? Will Germany catch-up to Spain like they did to Italy?

Celta Vigo:  it is looking like the signing of Fabian Orellana from Granada is looking less and less likely. The club are looking at two or three options.

Deportivo La Coruña:  The search for a central-defender to replace Colotto has been finalized. The club were looking at Agus of Alcorcón or Albert Botía, but Sporting Lisbon´s Peruvian defender Alberto Rodriguez has come on a one-year loan.

Espanyol: the third signing looked to be Joan Capdevila, the much-needed left-back considering Didac was returning to AC Milan, but the club have been extremely active and have signed Ghanaian midfielder Wakaso Mubarak from Villarreal and Capdevila might still sign tomorrow. All this activity is scaring me.

Getafe:  After leaving Levante last year for Lokomotiv in Russia, Felipe Caicedo is set to rejoin former coach Luis Garcia at Getafe.

Granada:  the club have signed French born Morroccan forward Youssedd El-Arabí from Al-Hilal FC in Saudi Arabia.

Levante: Pape Diop who spent last season at Racing Santander would like to find a new club in the first division.

Malaga:  Giovanni Dos Santos looks to be their first signing. For 6 million euros, the Mexican international it seems does not factor in to the plans of Andre Vilas-Boas. He didn´t for ´Arry, but there were personal reasons why Redknapp froze Gio out of the first team. They hated each other.

Mallorca:  Aston Villa are looking to land defender Ivan Ramis for around 4 million pounds.

Osasuna: with a balloon payment near-due for the services of Nekounam at around 1.5 million euros gross, the club have stated that he won´t be needed and are looking at bringing in Javi Fuego from Rayo Vallecano. Rayo are studying other options.

Rayo Vallecano:  Rayo´s revelation Michu is a very wanted man. Sevilla are keen on him as are Swansea in the Premier League, but some other clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are as wll. My how the mighty have fallen if they are looking at diamonds in the rough like Michu.

Real Sociedad: the deal is practically done. The club and the player have a deal in place for four years. Real Sociedad and Arsenal have their side almost finished and Carlos Vela will likely play next year in San Sebastian. What´s the hold up? Arsenal don´t wat to sell the player if they will lose half of what they paid for him. They are holding out for some other payment in kind.

Sevilla
:  Arsenal and Liverpool have apparently, according to some rather odd internet sources like the Bleacher Report, been sniffing around Álvaro Negredo. 18 million dollars though sounds like a rather low-ball initial offer considering this is José María del Nido and both English clubs are desperate for a versatile forward who can play in space and also with his back to goal.

Valencia
:  replacing Jordi Alba is a must. The preferred option is Guilherme Siquera from Granada, but if that deal falls through, and why would´nt it, the Pozzos have no need to sell at a bargain basement price, then AS Roma´s fullback José Angel once of Sporting de Gijón is their Plan-B.

Valladolid:  the club are suing Italian club Bari for signing Saná Camará after teh player walked away from training at Valladolid last season and never returned.

Zaragoza:  As reported last week, dutch Celtic central-defender Glenn Hoovens has indeed signed for Real Zaragoza. How they continue to sign players while in administration is beyond me.
