The Other League: Transfer Update 30.06

Athletic Bilbao: the club have resigned striker Aritz Aduriz for the third time, in a sense to give cover and some rest for Fernando Llorente, but the club´s number one striker is still a transfer target for the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal apparently. Doubtful, but that´s the sort of nonsense you get from the paint-by-numbers English media. Either way Athletic have set a 35 million pound transfer fee and the club are never really in any danger of bending on that negotiation tactic.

Atletico de Madrid
: Diego Ribas, who spent last year on-loan at Atléti, and is owned by Wolfsburg in Germany might be returning to Brazil and Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro.

Betis:Real Madrid Castilla winger Juanfran has openly declared his interest in joining Pepe Mel´s team whom he admires and because he admires former Real Betis winger Joaquin.

Celta Vigo: the celeste have come to an agreement with Sevilla for a loan agreement for goalkeeper Javi Varas who will battle for the first team place with Yoel Rodriguez and Sergio Álvarez.

Deportivo La Coruña: Argentine goal has renewed for one more year with Depor.

Espanyol: the planned trade between Mallorca and Espanyol for midfielders Sergio Tejera and Javi Marquez is apparently done. 1.2 million euros and former Espanyol prospect Tejera for Marquez who was once seen as untouochable. Valencia were also interested. Vladi Weiss, who was on-loan last year from Manchester City, may wind up at PSV Eindhoven.

Getafe: Pedro León will spend another year on-loan at Getafe and away from the angry words of former coach José Mourinho and Real Madrid. Cata Díaz leaves Getafe and signs with Atléti. Now he can ramp up another Madrid derby.

Granada: Antonio Floro Flores is cominng on-loan to the Andalusian side, as is 22 year old Romanian international and attacking midfielder Gabriel Torje.

Levante: Miguel Herrero Javaloyas (Michel), who spent his last year at Hercules CF has come to Levante on a free-transfer after his contract with Valencia CF ended. The club have also renewed the contract of David Navarro who came to Levante on a free after his former club Neuchatel folded.

Malaga: the club that people are waiting on Giovanni Dos Santos to decide on leaving Tottenham Hotspur may not be Atletico de Madrid (no money really unless you count Jorge Mendes and he´s not involved), but it might be Malaga.

Mallorca: the club have signed Javi Marquez from Espanyol for 1.2 million plus the rights to unwanted midfielder Tejero. Former Atléti captain and left-back Antonio Lopez joins Mallorca on a free.

Osasuna:  Osasuna have agreed a three-year deal for defender Alejandro Arribas Garrido on a free transfer after spending the last two seasons with Rayo Vallecano.

Rayo Vallecano: Javi Fuego is being courted by Zaragoza, but the asking price of 500k in euros is above los maños.

Real Sociedad: while still waiting for Carlos Vela to ask out of his Arsenal contract, the club have signed Uruguayan Chori Castro.

Sevilla: have signed a trio of midfielders. Arsenal teenager Alban Bunjaku has signed with Sevilla. They have also signed Chilean attacking midfielder Bryan Rabello from Colo Colo and Javi Hervas from Córdoba.

Valencia: after months of negotiation, Jordi Alba has finally signed with FC Barcelona.

Valladolid:  You would think that being cash-strapped, that newly promoted Valladolid would be cautious with their squad, but no. After letting Matabuena, Juanito, Fernando Varela, Jofre, Mehdi Nafti, Dani Aquino, Nauzet and Sisi go, they are planning on 7 or 8 new signings. Stay tuned.

Zaragoza: Paco Montañes and Javi Fuego are the primary targets. The first from Alcorc´on and the second from Rayo Vallecano.
